Kate Russo Thompson is an American singer-songwriter and multi-insturmentalist with a rich history of recording and performing original music.  Born and raised in a musical family in Massachusetts, Kate went on to study classical music at New England Conservatory of Music as a violinist and educator.  She left after two years to burst onto the professional performing world with successful original bands Boccherini Ensemble (album “Boccherini: Time Machine”) and Jon Found Kate (self-titled album), as well as with famous 60’s icons Ronnie Hawkins and The Hawks, Rick Danko of The Band and Janis Joplin’s original band Big Brother and the Holding Company.   

 

With her natural ease flitting between instruments and singing, arranging, writing and performing, Kate put in the blood, sweat and tears of a full-time creator and honed her craft while earning a reputation for being an exciting and down-to-earth artist with many different sides to her music, unable to be pigeon-holed.  Moving to the southwest, Kate recorded and toured with local favorites Bit O’Jane and The Elliots (The "Color" album and the "White" album).  

After completing her independent solo release “Looking For Ringo” in 2006, she settled in New England with her musical partner and husband, Blake Thompson.   She prayed for guidance to find a way to harness the power of Music to be able to share the Good News, and found great joy and satisfaction being involved in the creative process of connecting the Art of Songwriting and Performing with the glory of spreading the Word!  All Glory To God!  Even better, Blake and son Jr. joined Soli Deo Gloria to form an awesome family band for the Lord!  

 

Kate performs nationally and internationally with her original music and with Big Brother and the Holding Company (2016's live DVD and CD "Live In The Lowlands).  

Soli Deo Gloria is currently recording their first release of original gospel, sharing the Love and Mercy of Lord Jesus Christ.  Kate also leads and performs praise music at worship services, retreats, events and concerts, and enjoys traveling around the country with her musical family to bring this music to the family of Christ to share in His Glory!
